random

So the past few weeks, I have had no time to really look at wedding ideas or even tips. Work has been crazy.(Some background - job is on a grant. Grant has not be renewed yet. Do not know if it will. It was looking like Aug 31 would be last day of work. So I had been looking like crazy for a new job. Got news yesterday the current job could be extended to October 31. So still looking for a new job) Because of issues at work, I have not been wanting to do anything. Been sitting in my rooom and zonning out on either Unreal Tournament or a Wii game. I am tired. I just want a good job that I actually enjoy and will like to do for a long time. But I have not found one yet. Also because of this, I am trying to save money in whatever way I can. It is hard, but will have to do it. However, since, I might lose my job, trying to get as many doctor visits in as possible before losing my health insurance.

Been trying to get in shape for June 30th. I would like to lose a lot of weight for my wedding. Having a wedding is a great motivation, but the heat is a dismotivator. I just cannot stand the heat lately. I am glad that this week it is in the upper 70s in the morning instead of the 80s. I have decided to go walking every morning in September. Then in October pick running back up when it is not as hot. Plus walking now will help out with the running in October. I want to try to add a .5 mile or a mile every two weeks starting in October. I will not be looking for a dress until January. That way I should be able to drop a few sizes to be able to get a great style. Designers just do not have the greatest looking dresses for the bigger sizes.

thoughts

So after a crazy weekend of airplanes and airports, Tim's mom finally made it home. After picking her up at the airport, I tried so hard for her not to see the ring just yet. I think she was tired from her hole ordel that I don't think she would have picked up on it. We took her out to Cracker Barrel along with Tim's sister. How do you tell someone, oh by the way, we have been engaged for a while? So what I did was tell her, that Tim and I have been busy since she has been gone and then just showed her my hand. Her reaction was priceless. A great memory. Too bad I did not have my camera.

I changed my status on facebook yesterday. Like I told Tim I would. But he asked not to have to much about it on facebook which I am respecting. Talked with some people that we are inviting to the wedding. They complained a bit about the date. however, it is what works for us. It is over 10 months away. That should be plenty of time to work things out so you can attend.

Got a little down because Tim's mom is not all excited due to the fact she has so much other things going on. I am so ready to be married right now. I am getting tired of driving back and forth between his house and his mom's house. I just want to go home and stay home and sleep in my home. Plus, it is also hard to combine to complete households. We each have lived on our own for a while. So I have been spending a lot of time trying to downsize my stuff. I donate 5 bags worth of stuff and will have some more bigger things and tossed away 4 bags worth of trash. Tim has only done 5 items of clothing and an end table. How is that fair? But hopefully, he will toss some of his old furniture that needs to go.

It is official!!!

On Sunday, I had a horrible day. Went to my storage unit to start going through boxes and down sizing my stuff into three piles - trash, keep, and donate. Upon arriving at my storage unit, I found that they had put their own lock on my unit. Furious, I called the emergency number to figure out why I have a lock on my unit. I have paid faithfully every month for the past 4 years with never a late payment and always early. I made them come out yesterday afternoon to unlock it. Now they lost a customer. Tim was going to help, but he was called into work due to a water main break. Not happy with that either. Lets not go into that, but you can see that it was turning out to be a horrible day.

That evening, Tim decided he made me wait long enough for my ring. I had picked it out and he had ordered it last week. He decided I had to look for it. He knows I like hunting for goodies and how it bothers me when I can't find things right away. Of course a bright sparkling diamond helped me find it easier. I made him put it on my finger. :)

It is official! We are engaged!! Party Time!!!

Wedding Party

I finally talked to the two that I want in my Bridal Party. They both have special meaning to me. My Maid of Honor will be my college roommate. She helped make college fun and was a great roommate. We always joked around that we could write a book on day about how to get along with your roommate since we never argued or fought. My other is my sister in law. She is one of the most amazing girls I know. For one, she married my brother and second she loves math and has a heart for teaching math to high schoolers. My brother did a wonderful job :) I am excited that she will be standing with me as I marry the one I love. She has waited many years for this moment just like I have.

Tim has decided on his best man - his brother. I cannot wait till his brother has to give a speech. I have no idea what he will say but I know it might be goofy. Or he could give a speech like Tim did for his brother's wedding that made all the girls cry. Tim has not decided on if he wants anyone else. I think he should approach his best friend from growing up and ask him to be a part of the groomsmen.

He also does not understand why I am doing all this planning so early. But I have been waiting for this day for about 5 years. Plus, I want my bridesmaid to be able to be looking for something that they will like for their dress. Who knows what sales will pop up and what will be on sale between now and next year. Now I need to figure out what kind of wedding gifts will I be giving them.

Crazziness (Original 8/4)

So we ended up ordering my ring over the weekend. It should be here tomorrow. I am so excited. Part of me wants Tim to plan a nice romantic way to give it to me, but I bet you he won't. I just want the ring. I have waited five years and I am very impatient right now. :)
We were able to find someone to officiate our wedding. We finalized some information last night. I am excited about who it is. It will be his first one. He is really looking forward to it. His wife is looking forward to a vacation. They are a wonderful couple and they would have been invited to the wedding anyways.
We also finalized a date. We moved it to last Saturday in June 2012. We did that because of the cruise we want to take to Alaska for the honeymoon.
Mom and dad have been more then willing to help. I pretty much have no budget because of what I want to do. It is going to be simple and informal and no rules. I hate rules :) I was able to talk to the girl that I would like to be my maid of honor. She is excited about it especiallyl when I said she does not have to plan a bacherloratte party. Tim and I decided to do something with everyone. Friends and family are important to us and since everyone is coming out to see us get married, then why not spend some time with them.

Style (Original 7/26)

So spent time while at work looking at all kinds of stuff - dresses to cakes to stationary to hair style to decorations. I cannot seem to find anything that I enjoy. The one thing that is kind of nailed down is Tim's outfit. Tim would die before being caught in a peguin suit. So we compromised. He is going to be wearing a white dress shirt with a vest and either a western rope tie or bow tie. But I am leaning toward a western rope tie. The vest will not be a formal vest, but most likely a western vest. He will be wearing black dress paints with cowboy boots. So there is the texan style coming out. I can just imagine how that will look with the redwood trees and the coast in the background. I want him to be comfortable and if that is what it takes, then that is what he is going to wear.
Since we want to do an outdoors wedding and will be traveling, I do not want a poofy dress nor one with a long train. I also do not know if I want it to touch the ground either. I am also not your 1-16 size either. I am hoping to lose some weight so I can have more of a selection.  I also do not want spaghetti straps or strapless. I do want some sleaves or a tank top style. I do not want on the fancy stuff on the front or the back. I want something very simple. The same with the bridesmaid dresses. The colors are going to be blue and green. So maybe a dress that is a blend of the two colors would work. However, no strapless or spaghetti straps. I want the dress to be able to be worn again. Not a short dress nor a long dress. I am thinking between the knees and the ankles are a good length. I guess you can say I want the dresses to be modest and something that does not look out of place in the woods.
Tim likes tractors/farming and I like traveling/history. How in the world would we incorporate our favorite things. That would make the reception decor very unique and just us.

Beginning the Wedding Path (orginal - 7/25)

So we looked at engagement rings over the weekend. I had found a style that I enjoyed - the Marque. However, when talking with the sales lady, she said that even though it is different, your diamond could get chipped and lost due to hiting the prongs. So we switched gears and started looking at other rings. I ended up finding the perfect ring. It is part of the Hearts of Fire series. The diamond just sparkles differently than all the other ones. It also has a serial number inscribed on the diamond just incase. It is now up to Tim to decided when to buy it and propose. She gave us the prices for plantinium and white gold. We also looked at a wedding band for Tim. I did find one. It is not a precious metal but some other type of metal that oil field personal wear. So I figured it would work great for him too.

Even though he has not given me a ring yet, we are moving forward with the planning. We decided on June of 2012. Either the 16th or the 23rd. We also would like to have the cermony among the redwood trees in Cali where I grew up. I think it is a lovely idea. But that also means that we need to limit the number of guests. So I was thinking bout having a wedding reception in TX where we both live after the official ceremony in Cali.

There are so many questions and things to think about in planning a wedding. But we are on that path of marriage after 5 years of dating.
