The original kitchen is very small.
For someone that enjoys cooking and baking, there was absolutely no room to do anything in the kitchen. Plus Tim likes to eat, so he figured a descent kitchen will help me in cooking and trying new foods. Mom designed a few different kitchens. It was hard to agree between the both of us, but we did decide.
So we removed the flooring.
Found another layer of flooring. This layer was not easy to remove. We had to get the saw saw out with a special blade that Tim's brother got us a few years okay. It removes the glued down stuff. But after a while, the vibrations get a little annoying. My wrist hurted for days.
There was a lot of tile to remove. We are now ready to remove the rest of the kitchen cabinets. I have done my fair share of plumbing during these house renovations. I took off the p-trap and all the piping under the sink. It totally stank when I removed the gray water pipe.
The cabinets are removed. Time to seal up the kitchen so we can move the water lines.
So our next step was to cut a hole into the wall. Glad we will not be doing a lot of sheet rock work because we will be putting a door here to go into the laundry room/pantry. (One day we want to move the washer and dryer to the garage and expand the kitchen this way)
The jack hammer was loud. It bounces the user all around. Took us a good part of a day to get this much done. A sledge hammer and a pry bar were also much needed tools. So here we are putting the gray water pipe in the ground. The pipe in the whole coming out will be where we place the drain.
Now we are ready to put the dirt back in and then the cement and start the floor.
Sarah, this is so much fun to watch and to see the transformation! I love it!! Thanks for sharing! ~ Nicole Weber
